- Traditional Sparkling
- Riesling
- Mount Gambier, SA
- Bridget Mac | Werkstatt
Wine Description
Delicate bubbles, gentle sea breezes and crisp acidity. This is an easy-breezy summer aperitif that stands up perfectly well all by itself or alongside savoury snacks or pre-dinner bites. Flavours of lemon zest and honeysuckle combine with an ever so subtle saltiness to create a super-refreshing crowd pleaser that very much deserves a spot in your Spring/Summer rotation!
Mount Gambier’s cool maritime climate is ideally suited to premium Riesling production. Limestone soils encourage crisp acidity ideal for sparkling wines. The 2023 Riesling Sekt emerged following a cooler season which provided the perfect conditions to produce a sparkling Riesling in the Traditional Method/Sekt style. Partially whole bunch pressed, utilising only free run juice and fermented in old French puncheons before resting on gross lees for 3 months to add subtle complexity. Dosage of 4 g/L to balance the higher acid from the cooler season.

About the Winemaker
- Light White
- Aligoté
- King Valley, VIC
- Jess DiGiorgio | Bande Apart
Wine Description
If you tend towards a lighter-style cool climate Chardy, or appreciate a well balanced, lightly textural Pinot Gris, Aligoté could well be your new favourite. Known as Burgundy’s “other” white grape, it is gaining in popularity with Australian producers and Bande Apart is among those leading the way. With honeysuckle, vanilla and peach on the nose and hints of jasmine and apple on the palate, this is a very easy-drinking and beautifully balanced white wine. We’re dreaming of summer pairings with a zucchini tart or fresh prawns.
The 2023 Aligoté is grown in the Koombahla Vineyard, Whitfield, Victoria. Grapes are handpicked, whole bunch pressed and fermented in old French oak before bottling. Made in only tiny quantities (3 barrels), this wine is a rare treat, created out of a passion for the Burgundian grape which doesn’t get enough love from Australian producers with only a handful of examples being made currently. Light and very drinkable.
About the Winemaker
- Light Medium White
- Cortese
- Piedmont, IT
- Clara Milani | La Raia
Wine Description
This delicious Cortese is impossible not to enjoy. Finely balanced acidity, flavours of lemon and jasmine softened by a hint of bread dough and a creamy finish, thanks to a few months on lees prior to bottling. Equally at home at a summer picnic or formal soiree, we’ll be drinking ours pre-dinner with salted almonds, olives or smoked kingfish.
Calcareous and clayish soils, 400m altitude with a south-east-west exposure. In keeping with the farm’s biodynamic principles, the vines are farmed without any use of chemicals. Grapes are grown in ideal conditions for Cortese – good balance of sugar and acidity making this a classic Gavi - an easy drinking, yet very sophisticated white wine.
About the Winemaker
- Heavy White
- Chardonnay
- Yarra Valley, VIC
- Sally + Tom Belford | Bobar
Wine Description
This delicious Chardonnay is full of personality – a party on the nose and the palate with Danish pastries, biscuit dough and brown sugar leaping out of the glass. Crisp and lean on the palate with a delicate and creamy mouthfeel. Thanks to whole bunch pressing, clever blending techniques and maturation in a variety of oak vessels, there’s so much complexity to this wine but it all hangs together in perfect balance. We’ll be drinking this with Sunday lunch – roast chicken, rich cheeses, anything 'truffley'. A unique treat for the Chardonnay lover who’s “tried it all”.
Bobar’s mature Chardonnay vines are located at the foot of the steep slopes of the Christmas Hills escarpment on the Western side of the Yarra Valley, in Yarra Glen. This plot benefits from full exposure to the east, protection from extreme summer heat and rich grey loam soils producing consistently excellent wines of impressive complexity.
About the Winemaker
- Orange
- Xarel.lo Vermell
- Penedès, SP
- Maria Barrena + Josep Tort | Entre Vinyes
Wine Description
The Spanish Xarel.lo (pronounced sha-rel-lo) grape is traditionally used in the production of Cava but it’s red-skinned cousin takes centre stage here with a delightful wine made using the “Brisat” process, a Catalan term meaning extended maceration. Extra time on skins allows for greater extraction of natural flavours, aromas and tannins and minimal intervention thereafter means what goes into the glass expresses exactly what came off the vine. Flavours of spiced apple and fennel seed abound with just enough acidity to keep things in balance. We’ll be drinking this all summer long with goats cheese or brie with a drizzle of honey.
About the Winemaker

- Chilled Light Red
- Merlot and Syrah
- Manjimup, WA
- Lou Chalmer | Yume Wines
Wine Description
Fans of chilled Grenache or lightly perfumed Merlot, please form an orderly queue. This is the quintessential transition-to-Summer drop full of rhubarb, redcurrant, sour cherry and a hint of oyster shell giving way to a lightly fruity finish. The perfect aperitif or sophisticated barbecue wine.
Yume’s 'Manjimup Light Red' was produced using Merlot and Syrah grapes picked by hand in March in 2022. For the Merlot component, whole bunches were left in contact with the skins for between 12-24 hours before being pressed off to older French oak. The Syrah saw 10-14 days skin contact (whole bunch) before being pressed to older French oak. The two wines were blended at bottling, with around 70% Merlot / 30% Syrah making up the final blend.

Perfectly Pinot-esque. Aromas of pot pourri, lilac and black cherry with a palate full of floral characters and a hint of red licorice and vanilla. The influence of a 50% whole bunch ferment and time in oak is giving cherry liqueur meets campfire and we can’t get enough.
