Winemaker Tasting | Bex Milne of Grape Pirates
We're thrilled to be welcoming Bex Milne of Grape Pirates Wines to Famelia for a special Taste with the Winemaker event on 28th of May, 2026. Bex found her love for wine in her homeland of New Zealand, and it took her to vineyards and wineries across the globe — from Germany, where she developed a love for Riesling, to Oregon for cool climate Pinot Noir, and Chile for Malbec and Cabernets. She and her partner Aaron eventually landed in Orange, NSW, where what started as a joke between two wine lovers slowly became a headspace, and then a reality — using their combined experience to turn small parcels of fruit into the most delicious wine possible.
Grape Pirates was built on a philosophy of allowing the fruit to speak for itself, telling the true story of the vintage with as little intervention as possible. Their small vineyard sits at 990 metres above sea level in the cool climate appellation of Orange, tended with sustainable and organic practices and a thoroughly hands-on approach. Bex's journey — from cellar doors in New Zealand to vines halfway up a mountain in regional NSW — makes for a story as compelling as the wines themselves.
