About the Winemakers
Diane + Philippe Cauvin | Domaine La Colombière
After Diane inherited the estate from her father, she and Philippe poured their energy into transforming it into a biodynamic powerhouse, a bold move in a region better known for wines made en masse. Diane, who studied viticulture and trained across France’s great wine regions, is a force of vision and practicality. Philippe, her partner in life and in vines, brings his own passion for farming and experimentation. Together, they’ve nurtured soils back to health, brought entire grape varieties back from near-extinction, and breathed new life into Fronton’s winemaking community. Pretty inspiring stuff!
Château La Colombière is a living, breathing revival project in Fronton, southwest France. Since 2006, Diane and Philippe Cauvin have been on a mission to bring forgotten grapes and ancient methods back to life. They farm 13 hectares of vines organically and biodynamically (certified by Ecocert), championing indigenous varieties like ‘Négrette’ and the once-lost ‘Bouysselet’ with loving care and commitment. Every part of the process is hands-on: cover crops in the vineyards, biodynamic preps mixed and stirred on-site, grapes picked and sorted by hand, and gentle cellar practices to protect the integrity of the fruit.
