Lucy and Alysha are the dynamic duo behind Allevare Wines, a boutique winery in West Gippsland, Victoria. Allevare means “to grow and nurture" in Sicilian. Their philosophy is to make wines that reflect the terroir and the personality of the grapes, using organic and sustainable practices in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the cellar.
They source grapes from their own leased vineyard in Maffra, as well as from other growers in Victoria who share their vision. They produce a range of wines, from crisp and refreshing whites to elegant and expressive reds, with a focus on native and alternative varieties.
Lucy + Alysha are also passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in the wine industry. They are the founders of Joans of Marc, a business that sells curated six-packs of wines made by underrepresented groups in the wine industry, with the profits going to charity. Lucy and Alysha are part of the new wave of winemakers in Gippsland, bringing innovation and creativity to this emerging region.
