Pinot grown at the edge of the West Gippsland ranges... cool-climate country where mist rolls in, the soil holds moisture, and everything ripens at its own pace. 2023 gave Adriana and Al a calm, slow vintage, and this wine reflects that ease: light on its feet but gently and unexpectedly layered. Think bright red cherry, pomegranate, a dusting of spice, and this cool, gravelly edge that feels like rain on warm stone. There’s a little snap from the whole bunch and a little wildness from the carbonic ferments. Fermented clone-by-clone, raised in old barrels, bottled on-site with barely a nudge. One of their best yet.

About the Winemakers
Adriana D’Amico + Al Johnson | Bandicoot Run

Bandicoot Run is the work of Adriana D’Amico and Al Johnson, a small 7 acre vineyard an a quiet patch of Gunaikurnai Country surrounded by orchards, veggie gardens and native bushland. What started as a half-acre family vineyard has grown, vine by vine, row by row, into a small but mighty project that feels fully in rhythm with the land. Everything is done by the two of them, on-site, by hand, from compost tea to bottling wax. The vineyard is farmed organically, with a focus on soil health, biodiversity, and low-intervention winemaking. The climate here in inland West Gippsland brings cool nights, afternoon sea breezes, and long, slow ripening - a dream for delicate Pinot.
