A pure expression of Rioja Tempranillo, the San Vicente shows what’s possible when biodynamic farming meets old-vine fruit and hands-off winemaking. Grown in the high-altitude village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, this wine is all about freshness, energy, and clarity. Almost blue-hued in the glass, it opens with lifted aromatics of blueberry, potpourri, black cherry, and spice. The palate is vibrant and mineral, with a delicate crunch, soft-grip tannins, and a clean finish that carries notes of sour cherry, fennel, and raspberry. Fermented and aged entirely in concrete, this is a bright, mid-weight red that ditches the oak in favour of fruit purity and regional identity. A modern Rioja made the old way, how charming!

About the Winemaker
Janire Moraza | Bodegas Moraza

Bodegas Moraza has been family-run for six generations, rooted in the historic village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja Alta, Spain. Winemaker Janire Moraza now leads the estate, having transitioned the family’s 23 hectares to certified organic and biodynamic farming. Her philosophy focuses on purity, sustainability, and minimal intervention, continuing traditional methods while embracing a new natural direction. The vineyards, planted exclusively with native varietals, sit between 400–650m above sea level, benefiting from the cool influence of the Sierra Cantabria mountains and the unique limestone-rich soils of the region. In the cellar, Janire works only with concrete and indigenous yeasts, fermenting with gravity flow and no oak, allowing the fruit and terroir to speak clearly. Moraza is a modern Rioja story grounded in vibrant tradition.
