Bellwether Wines
Sue Bell is one of Australia’s most thoughtful and respected winemakers. With a background in oenology, viticulture and over 25 vintages spanning Bordeaux, California and nearly every Australian region, she brings both academic insight and hands-on experience to every bottle she touches. A former Winemaker of the Year and Len Evans Tutorial Dux, she crafts wines that balance classic elegance with a climate-conscious, sustainable edge. At Bellwether, Sue’s passion for sustainability, regional identity and community finds its way into everything she does.
Bellwether is housed in the historic Glen Roy Shearing Shed - an 1868 stone beauty now home to a boutique winery, cellar door, produce garden and campground in the heart of Coonawarra. A place where wine, nature, food, and history meet, Glen Roy feeds the soul just as much as it feeds Sue’s inspiration. Built by Chinese labourers en route to the goldfields, the shed is now a hub of creativity, community and truly excellent Cabernet.
