About the Winemaker
Nerina Cardile
Nerina Cardile makes wine in Solicchiata, a small village perched on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. Previously a practising psychotherapist in Milan, she took over her family's century-old vines in 2020 and began making wine under her own name. Her vineyards sit high at 700m above sea level, planted in sandy, ash-rich volcanic soils and farmed by hand using the alberello (bush vine) method.
Nerina favours minimal intervention in the cellar, working with native yeasts, no filtering or fining, and only a small amount of sulphur. Her wines are unmistakably Etna, but with Cardile's own clear and thoughtful touch. She's part of a new generation of Sicilian winemakers bringing fresh eyes to old vineyards, with one foot in tradition and the other pushing gently forward.
