About the Winemaker
Marina Marcarino | Punset

We love a rebel. Marina was meant to become an engineer but instead ran off to the vineyards and never looked back. She’s one of the only female winemakers in the region and a total force of nature. Since taking over the family vineyards, she’s turned Punset into a model of sustainable, future-forward winemaking - organic before it was cool, biodynamic most people even knew what that meant, and always with the goal of letting the land speak through the wine. Her energy is infectious, her wines are full of life.

Perched on a beautiful hilltop in Neive (the name “Punset” literally means "the pretty point" in the local dialect), this estate has been in the Marcarino family for generations - but it’s Marina Marcarino who’s made it what it is today. Back in the ‘80s, when organic farming was still considered pretty radical, she went all in, ditching pesticides and synthetics, and becoming the first estate in Italy to be certified organic. Known as a bit of a pioneer these days, Punset is fully biodynamic, following the philosophies of Fukuoka (aka “do-nothing” farming), and growing some of the healthiest vines in Italy.
