This Sinapius Pinot beauty comes from two tightly planted, north-east facing blocks (La Clairière and The Enclave) where the vines are packed in at 7,700 per hectare and yields are tiny. The soils are volcanic, the clonal mix is broad (12 clones), and the fruit gently destemmed and left to wild ferment. She leads berry-heavy with red plum and flint, but give her some air and she'll start to reveal her deeper side... dried herbs, forest floor, fennel tops, Chinese spice. Not a plush, easygoing Pinot by any stretch... this one’s all taut, sinewy… built to go the distance. A great bottle to take to dinner!

Linda Morice | Sinapius

Sinapius is a family-run vineyard in Northern Tasmania’s Pipers Brook region, founded in 2005 by Tasmanian locals Linda Morice and her late husband, Vaughn Dell. After years working and studying across Australia’s top wine regions, they returned home with one clear aim: make exceptional wines with minimal intervention, where the vineyard is the true focus.

Vaughn devoted countless hours to selecting unique clones and refining vineyard practices, shaping the distinctive site visitors see today. His sudden passing in 2020, at just 39, left Linda and their daughters, Esmé and Clementine, to carry forward the vision they built together—quality without compromise, courage to do things differently, and belief that hard work matters.

With Linda leading the way, Sinapius continues to be celebrated among Tasmania’s finest, a testament to the foundation she and Vaughn laid with authenticity and determination.
