Winemaker Tasting | Leqi Liu of Tinnyu
We're really excited to welcome Leqi Liu, co-founder and winemaker behind Tinnyu - one of the most exciting small producers to emerge from China in recent years. Shanghai-born Leqi studied winemaking at the Bordeaux Sciences Agro Institute before returning to China, where she eventually found her way to Yunnan and fell for the extraordinary potential of the region.
In 2021, she and her winemaking partner took a leap of faith and founded Tinnyu - a tiny, independent garage winery working with local villages in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The Shangri-La wine region sits at the intersection of Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet - one of the highest-altitude wine-producing areas in the world - where high altitude, low latitude and dramatic mountain geography create something truly unlike anywhere else on earth.
Tinnyu works the land through regenerative agriculture, minimising chemicals and letting the vineyard ecosystem do the talking. The result is a small-batch collection of wines that are pure, precise and full of place. Pull up a seat, ask Leqi anything, and enjoy!
