About the Winemaker
Kate McIntyre
The Winery
Moorooduc Estate
For starters, Kate McIntyre is an actual Master of Wine! For reference, there are only 28 in Australia and just under half of that figure are women. Despite this, she’s as down to earth as they come. Kate grew up at Moorooduc but wasn’t always sold on the family business. Fast forward to today and Kate runs the show... She’s the brains behind Moorooduc's winemaking, travels the world to talk about all things wine, and still makes it back to Mornington in time for vintage. Absolute powerhouse!
Moorooduc Estate has been doing its thing on the Mornington Peninsula since the early ‘80s, when Jill and Richard McIntyre swapped careers (and city life) for wine and vines. These days, it’s one of the region’s standouts - known for their wild ferments, whole bunch Pinot and big love for regenerative farming. They’re super focused on soil health and minimal intervention, to keep things fresh, honest, and expressive.
