About the Winemakers
Eleonora + Paolo Berluti
The Winery
La Calcinara
Eleonora and Paolo Berluti are fourth-generation winemakers!! Paolo brings energy and instinct; Eleonora brings a curiosity and a Bordeaux-trained precision. After time in New Zealand, Chile, and France, the pair returned to Candia to reinvent the family business with a fresh take on Montepulciano. Their goal has been to elevate Rosso Conero with wines that are complex, sincere, and emotionally resonant... bottling both place and personality to share around the world. We absolutely love their work!
La Calcinara is a family-run winery in the Conero hills of Marche, where the Adriatic breeze meets fossil-rich soils. The Berluti family has been making wine here for generations, but it was in 2007 that siblings Eleonora and Paolo took the reins to bottle their own label and put their stamp on Rosso Conero. Farming organically and working with low-intervention methods in the cellar, La Calcinara crafts wines that highlight the expressive, mineral character of their unique limestone and marine fossil soils.
