Candice Helbig and Frewin Ries are the duo behind CRFT Wines - partners in both wine and life. Candice, a Barossa native, brings over 20 years of experience to the table, with a passion for Chardonnay, Grüner and Pinot. Frewin started his winemaking career in Marlborough at Cloudy Bay at just 17, and has since worked across the globe, honing a love for site-specific wines. Their winemaking style is minimal intervention with maximum detail - wild ferments, small batches, no fining, and a commitment to organic farming. After a pivotal overseas trip, they founded CRFT in 2012 and purchased the Arranmore vineyard in 2016. It’s now their home, their winery, and the source of some of South Australia’s most exciting wines.

CRFT Wines is all about site-specific, single-vineyard wines that showcase the diversity and terroir of South Australia. Candice and Frewin craft wines with minimal intervention and maximum expression, working exclusively with organically farmed fruit. Their home vineyard, Arranmore, sits on Kaurna + Peramangk Country in the Adelaide Hills at 545m elevation. East and south-facing, it’s breezy, cold, and perfectly suited to producing intense fruit with natural acidity. NASAA Certified Organic since 2019, the vineyard is dry-grown and managed entirely by Candice and Frewin - a proper hands-on operation from start to finish. The Pinot Noir vines were planted in 2000 and are known for producing fruit with clarity and flavour. Add in the site’s loamy soils, cool temperatures and natural airflow, and you’ve got a near-perfect recipe for some of the best wines in the world.
