The 2023 Scout Central Otago Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard wine from the renowned Muirkirk vineyard in Bannockburn, one of Central Otago’s most celebrated Pinot Noir regions. The vineyard is organically farmed, with Clone 5 Pinot Noir vines planted in loamy soils over deep layers of clay and gravelly schist. Good things! Hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, it spent 30 days on skins before being pressed and aged for 11 months in French oak barriques. The result is a wine bursting at the seams with bright red fruit, silky tannins, and a vibrant energy - an unfiltered and true expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir.

About the Winemakers
Sarah Adamson + Greg Lane | Scout Wines

Scout is the trans-Tasman project of Sarah Adamson and Greg Lane, partners in wine, life, and a shared curiosity about what great fruit can do when you leave it to do it's thing. The label takes its name from To Kill a Mockingbird’s Scout Finch: an observer, a questioner, and someone who’s not afraid to go off-script. That’s the energy here. After years working vintage-to-vintage around the world, from Central Otago to the Adelaide Hills and back again, Sarah and Greg launched Scout in 2017 with a single Chardonnay and a big vision. Sarah now leads winemaking and fruit is sourced from like-minded growers across Bannockburn, Lowburn and Pisa. Ferments are spontaneous, oak is old, and nothing is overworked. These are wines with bounce and freshness, but also refinement.. never shouty, always considered.
