Famelia's annual International Women's 'March' is here, and we're thrilled to be presenting a program of events that make space for real connection, real learning, and actual change. Underpinning the program is the global theme: “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”. Progress has indeed been made, however legal and structural inequities persist worldwide. For Famelia, that reality is not abstract, it’s foundational.

The wine industry remains historically male-dominated, with women winemakers representing just a small fraction of the field (a meagre 16% globally) and facing significantly higher barriers to entry, funding, land ownership and leadership opportunities. Despite this imbalance, the quality and innovation coming from women-led wineries continues to challenge outdated assumptions about who “belongs” in wine. Famelia was established to actively rebalance this narrative by championing women winemakers and creating space for visibility, education and economic support.

International Women’s ‘March’ isn’t symbolic for us. It’s about creating tangible opportunities… supporting women financially, giving their work a platform, and inviting our community to participate in that action. Until the wine industry reflects true equity - in representation, opportunity and safe working conditions - Famelia will continue to focus its shelves, events and storytelling on women makers and women-led wineries. Throughout March, that commitment expands beyond the bar, with workshops, tastings, markets and collaborations designed to translate awareness into participation.
