Delicate bubbles, gentle sea breezes and crisp acidity. This is an easy-breezy summer aperitif that stands up perfectly well all by itself or alongside savoury snacks or pre-dinner bites. Flavours of lemon zest and honeysuckle combine with an ever so subtle saltiness to create a super-refreshing crowd pleaser that very much deserves a spot in your Spring/Summer rotation!

Mount Gambier’s cool maritime climate is ideally suited to premium Riesling production. Limestone soils encourage crisp acidity ideal for sparkling wines. The 2023 Riesling Sekt emerged following a cooler season which provided the perfect conditions to produce a sparkling Riesling in the Traditional Method/Sekt style. Partially whole bunch pressed, utilising only free run juice and fermented in old French puncheons before resting on gross lees for 3 months to add subtle complexity. Dosage of 4 g/L to balance the higher acid from the cooler season.

About the Winemaker
Bridget Mac | Werkstatt

Bridget Mac's wines are some of my favourites. They're deeply inspired by the cool-climate greats of Alsace, Austria and Germany, but made in the wild soils of southern Australia. After cutting her teeth at Lethbridge, Giant Steps and Chatto, Bridget launched Werkstatt in 2022 with a single (delicious!) riesling. Since then, she’s added a number of gems to the lineup, all sourced from a site she stumbled across and quickly fell for in Mount Gambier, which sits on ancient marine limestone transformed by volcanic heat into marble. That detail feels important, in more ways than one. Not only is this unique but the metamorphosed limestone gives the wines a concentrated, stony edge.. clarity, a quiet depth.
