'Picnic Wines' Pack ~ May 2025
Who doesn't love a picnic?! This mix of wines will suit everyone, and are great for sharing.
This month's Picnic Wines 3-Pack includes:
1. 2021 ECK Wines Heathcote Sparkling Shiraz No. 2
Shiraz | Heathcote, VIC | Emily Kinsman | ECK Wines
Sparkling Shiraz is such an iconic Aussie style – and this one’s a total vibe. Made by the brilliant Emily Kinsman, it’s all juicy blackberries, wild raspberries, and a touch of sweet cherry with the softest little bubble that dances on your tongue. There’s a whisper of mint and rosemary and even a flicker of earthy beetroot in there too – it’s complex but still super drinkable. Emily made this with fruit from her own lakeside vineyard in Knowsley, aged it in old French oak for 11 months, then left it to chill on lees for 19 months. It’s made the proper way (traditional method, thank you very much), but still feels light, fresh and fun – like the kind of wine you open at a BBQ and then realise you’ve finished before the snags are even cooked.
2. 2023 Unico Zelo ‘Origami’ Rosé
Grenache, Sangiovese, Dolcetto | Riverland, SA | Laura + Brendan Carter | Unico Zelo
The ‘Origami’ Rosé is an expressive, cross-regional blend of Sangiovese from Clare Vally, Grenache from Riverland and skin-contact Pinot Gris from the Adelaide Hills. Lightly copper-hued and full of freshness, it opens with aromas of pink lady apple, guava, salted lemon and tart cranberry. Bright and floral and, finishing bone-dry with a distinct line of acidity and a silky, subtly grippy texture. Crunchy and clean, perfect for sunny days and seafood… It's as Unico as a rosé can be.
3. 2023 Massimago ‘Duca Fedele’ Valpolicella
Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone | Veneto, IT | Camilla Rossi Chauvenet | Massimago
Duca Fedele is light yet packed with fresh red fruit - think strawberries, sour cherries, and a cheeky sprinkle of spice. It’s bright and fragrant... there’s a little balsamic lift, some violets also. A fresh and delicious take on Valpolicella.
