'Natural Wines' Pack ~ July 2025
The Gen-Z of wine boxes. Lo-fi, skinsy, sulfur-free, FUN-ky!
July's Natural Wines 3-Pack includes:
1. 2023 Heya ‘Farha’ Sparkling Apple Grape Wine
Merwah | Bekaa Valley, LEB | Claudine Lteif and Michelle Chami | Heya Wines
A sparkling with soul - and a few apples. ‘Farha’ means joy, and that’s exactly what this bottle delivers. A co-ferment of 80% Merwah (an ancient white grape native to Lebanon) and 20% Red Delicious apples, grown at 1500m in the remote Wadi Annoubine valley. It’s a wild blend that works so beautifully: zippy, juicy, and a little rustic. It gives a big whack of golden apple first off, then zesty citrus and spice. The apples go through carbonic maceration, the Merwah gets skin contact, and the whole thing is left undisgorged, unfined, unfiltered, and naturally fermented with no fluff or additives - just a touch of sulphur to keep things in check. Textural, dry, and full of character, with a salty finish that leaves you reaching for another sip.
2. 2021 Brave New Wine ‘Doppelgänger’ White Blend
Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris | Porongurup, WA | Yoko Luscher-Mostert + Andries Mostert | Brave New Wine
A wild and wonderful skinsy blend, the 2021 ‘Doppelgänger’ is all texture and energy. Mostly Riesling, with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewürz and a splash of Sauv Blanc - all fermented separately on skins anywhere from two weeks to nine months, then blended with a multi-vintage solera started back in 2014! Expect lifted aromatics like mandarin peel, ginger spice, fennel seed, jasmine tea, even a touch of eucalyptus... and loads of juicy, chalky grip. Fermented wild, aged in old oak and ceramic egg, unfined and unfiltered, it’s zippy, chewy, crunchy, it's a very welcome assault on the palate. Definitely not your average white that's for sure.
3. 2024 Crusher ‘Resi’ Barbera Sangiovese
Barbera, Sangiovese | Granite Belt, QLD | Dominique Gruhier + Tom Crusher | Crusher
A crushable ode to Meanjin. This light red is everything we want from Queensland’s growing natural wine industry - juicy, vibrant, and totally laidback. It’s Barbera and Sangiovese grown on Wakka Wakka Country in Moffatdale, picked by hand and barely touched. Bright raspberry and pomegranate, with a lick of tomato leaf ... umami! Sunshine on a cold day, this is a lo-fi MVP destined for your next shindig.
