'Classic Wines' Pack ~ July 2025
A mix of well-known and much-loved classics, but like, really REALLY good.
July's Classic Wines 3-Pack includes:
1. NV Domaine Muré Crémant D’Alsace
Pinot Blanc, Pinot Auxerrois, Riesling, Pinot Gris | Alsace, FR | Véronique + Thomas Muré | Domaine Muré
This brut smells exactly like Crémant d’Alsace should - a little floral, a little fruity, sort of like the grown-up sibling of your go-to sparkling. A blend of Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, and Riesling (with a little kiss of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir), it pours with a delicate mousse and a persistent crown of bubbles. Think orchard fruit on the nose - apple, pear, even cantaloupe - lifted by white flowers and linden, gentle hits of vanilla and cinnamon here and there too. The palate is fresh, with buttery brioche and citrus. Seriously drinkable, a good one to whip out at your next weekend do, pairs just as well with a plate of freshly shucked oysters as it does a low-key Tuesday in on the couch.
2. 2023 La Kooki ‘Las Piedras’ Tempranillo

This vibrant Crianza-style Tempranillo (with a dash of Cabernet for backbone) is bursting with bright red fruits and a whisper of black cherry and cola spice. The fruit was handpicked from six short rows in the 52 Stones Vineyard - perched at 260m with a southerly aspect perfect for slow, steady ripening. Wild-fermented with hand plunging, then matured in seasoned French oak barriques topped with stones (‘Las Piedras’), the result is something delightfully supple... both fruity and savoury... with a bit of texture at the end too.
3. 2018 Bellwether Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

A powerful, age-worthy expression of Coonawarra Cabernet. Hand-picked and basket-pressed, you can just tell it's been crafted with care and clarity of vision... Prepare for beautiful layers of dried sage, rosemary, blackcurrant, cedar and a whisper of mint. It's Wintry alright! Medium-bodied with depth, density and fine-grained tannins, it has structure and stamina!
