About the Winemaker
Caroline Mooney
The Winery
Zonzo Estate
Caroline Mooney grew up in the Yarra Valley on a farm next door to Zonzo, no less - and brings more than 20 years of winemaking experience to the table. Her path took her through France and back, picking up both a formal wine science degree and a deep, instinctive understanding of place. Since joining Zonzo in 2015, she’s led the creation of Scoperta, their small-batch, minimal-intervention range - and has kept things refreshingly hands-on ever since. Every vintage is made by hand, guided by gut, taste, and feel.
Zonzo might be best known for its home in the Yarra Valley, but behind the scenes, they’re doing things a little differently. Their wines are made in a converted urban warehouse - yep, not your classic winery setup - which they’ve turned into a sustainable, people-focused space for hands-on winemaking. It’s all part of a bigger philosophy: minimal intervention, maximum expression, and a deep respect for both land and craft.
